VROOM!

The crowd in the stadium was going wild as Power Rage crossed the finish line, the checkered flag whipping wildly in the wind from the car’s passing.

“THERE YOU HAVE IT, EVERYONE! CODY KENNEDY CLAIMS HIS SECOND YEAR AS THE USA GRAND CIRCUIT CHAMP!” the Announcer declared over speakers.

The car opened, and a young man stepped out, looking dizzy. He lifted his helmet to reveal a handsome man, about 27 in age. With a smile on his face, and fist pumped in victory.

The crowd was going wild.

“Thank you all!” Cody said happily.

Suddenly, something small and heavy impacted with Cody’s lower body. The racer went “Oof!” and looked down, to see what had hit him.

It was a young boy, hugging him.

“Way to go, dad!” he said.

“Thanks, Mike,” Cody said, affectionately ruffling his son’s hair. “Wanna come join me at the winner’s circle?”

“Yeah!”

Cody lifted his kid onto his shoulders, as he walked to the Winner’s circle, where Cody was presented with the winner’s trophy and a check for $10,000.

Cody accepted the check. “That’s twenty thousand down. Ten thousand to go, but I don’t know if they’ll wait one more year,” he thought to himself. ”Fucking Dad had to go and land his ass in a thirty grand debt… If I don’t pay it off... Mike could be in danger, there’s got to be a way to get that lot thousand soon.”

VROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMM!

The sound of a car was heard coming into the stadium. A large, weird-looking racecar busted through the entrance to the racetrack and screeched across the arena before coming to a halt directly in front of Cody.

Cody shielded Mike incase the car would hit them. But when the car stopped in front of him, he too a good look at the car. It was unlike any he’d ever seen, like a toy car almost. The purple-tinted windows were HUGE for one thing- they took up most of the car’s top, in fact. The rest of the car was silver and streamlined. Overall, this car looked... alien.

“What the?” Cody wondered, as the “Door” of the vehicle opened. The driver stepped out, a dark-haired young man a bit younger than Cody.

“WHOA, EVERYONE! ITS THE CEO OF REVEREND RACING INC! BLAKE REVEREND!” The announcer announced.

Blake held his ears. “Ow, ow, shut your fat mouth, I have sensitive hearing…” he grumbled. Nevertheless, he strode up to Cody and slapped a large, fat envelope in his hand.

“For you,” he said simply. “Keep the car.”

“...what? What?”

“Oh... I should explain the car...”

“That would be wise.” Cody said.

“...but I won’t. Bye.” Blake strode off.

“Hey, wait a minute!” Cody called. Blake paid him no heed, though, simply leaving. There was something strange about the way Blake moved, as though he were on a ship and hadn’t found his sea legs. “You okay?”

“...I’m fine,” Blake said. He made his exit quickly and quietly.

“O...kay..?”

“Can we see the new car, Dad?” Mike asked.

“Well... okay. But we’re keeping Power Rage.” Cody moved over to let him and his son inspect the ugly-looking vehicle Blake had driven in. “Okay...” he said, getting in the car. Inside, there was a video screen in place of actual windows, displaying what was going on outside. There were gizmos and gadgets everywhere- some basic car-driving mechanisms, others Cody had no idea what they were or did.

But then, Mike pressed a flashing green button.

Data began showing on the screen.

“What the... Reverend Racer Model 127RE, codename Iridium?” Cody wrinkled his nose unappreciatively. “Dumb kid and his fancy car… hmm... Let’s see how fast this techy thing can go.” He revved it up, once, twice, three times. He hit the gas and...

VROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!

Iridium was lapping the track faster than Power Rage ever did! In fact, it was so fast that Cody’s skin nearly blew away from the speed! He screamed in a mix of ecstasy and horror as he hit the brake.

“Wow! The Iridium is FAST!” he declared.

“Yeah!” Mike said. Then, he remembered the envelope. “Oh, dad- remember the envelope?”

“Oh…” Cody took out the envelope. He opened it, and read the letter.

“Dear Cody Kennedy, because of your amazing skill, you are invited to take part in Race of Champions. It is an international race, to find the best of the best. The best in the world are being gathered for this race, and the grand prize includes 5,000,000 dollars. If you want to prove yourself to be the best, bring the iridium to the ROC First Track in Vail, Colorado.

PS. Bring Family.”

Cody’s jaw dropped.

“...Dad? What’s wrong with your mouth?” Mike asked.

“Five Million... Mike, you up for a trip to Colorado?” Cody said, making a call to have Power Rage and Iridium sent to Vail.

Meanwhile, in Nevada, someone was converting a Battle Spec into a SpineBuster. “Hm… a little tweak here, remove that and replace it with another thing…” A smirk was seen. “The Rev Wreckers are taking the five mil and taking over all of Nevada’s racing underworld!” The sound of maniacal laughter echoed through the night.
