Leon: Wolf-Prince-Leon here, and it's Weapon Wielders times, A new series of Countdowns for Video Game weapon wielders, Starting with the Best one, The Sword, But For this one, I've called in a couple of Friends!

Regulus: Regulus58 here.  I'm excited to be here Leon to help talk about some of the greatest swordsman in videogames.

Eduard: Hello everyone I am Xiexhai31. Helping with this list! I know quite a few badass sword users so hopefully I'll be able to help out.

Leon: Swords are among the oldest forms of armed weapons. A simple blade with a hilt, but the sword one of the most international of Martial Weapons, and Video Games give us quite a variety, and narrowing it down to ten was HARD! But we did it, so here it is. Only Games at least one of us has played, and only one per Franchise. Also, there are many that didn't make it because we never played those games, so if we missed one, leave a Comment and let us know. Ready Set-

Leon, Eduard, and Regulus: Let's go!

*Number ten*

Eduard: Well I play quite a lot of RPGs and most of the main characters have swords as their priority weapon. But what do you think Leon? Any particular one you're thinking will suit number 10?

Leon: Let's start with something like-

Number 10: Meta-Knight from the Kirby series.

Eduard: I have not played any of the Kirby games. But I do use him a bit in Super Smash Bros Brawl. He was quite broken and outright banned in tournaments. I also liked his design a lot. Is it true he commandered an airship as well?

Leon: Yep, and Meta-Knight's a warrior of honor and very skill, but he's at the bottom is because he's not really too fun to play against. But he still has skills.

*number 9*

Leon: Any ideas?

Regulus:  I've got one.

Number Nine Lyn from Fire Emblem

Leon: Really? that assist trophy girl?

Regulus:  Yeah.  She was one of the three lords from Fire Emblem(NA.) that you could play as.

Eduard: Of which she was the second best. Better than Eliwood but Hector is too broken for his own good. She's still useful though however. Being a Mrymidon and all.

Regulus:  I rather like Eliwood.  But I digress.  Being a swordswoman from the plains of Sacae, she was living all alone on the plains just as the game begins.

Leon: Okay guys, onto her skills.

Regulus:  Alright Leon.  Lyn starts out with a D mastery in swords and can be easily knocked out if you're not careful.

Eduard: And with Mrymidons rather weak defenses they are kind of glass cannons. You pretty much need to rely on them dodging attacks.

Leon: but can she get stronger?

Regulus:  Oh yeah.  As a character levels up in Fire Emblem, they get points randomly assigned to their stats.  But that's not all, once a character is level 10 or higher, they can use a special item to change their class into something better.

Eduard: Oh yea! She becomes a Blade Lord.

Leon: I see.

*Number eight*

Leon: Star War is known for having the creation of the Lightsaber, a laser sword, which has been often imitated, but never duplicated. With that, we have the number eight warrior.

Number 8: Starkiller from Star Wars the Force Unleashed.

Eduard: Haven't played this game. But with I have the two Old Republic games on steam. Ah the steam backlog always grows. Damn summer sale.

Regulus:  Me neither Leon.  I dodged it like the plague.

Leon: Starkiller was a young potential jedi that Darth Vader takes in as a secret appentice to flush out the empire's enemies, only for him to sacrifice himself to usher to create the Rebel Alliance.

Regulus:  I guess Vader never expected his apprentice to be a thorn in his side.

Eduard: So how are his skills? I can imagine him using the force and all that.

Leon: yeah, but he was overskilled as the game goes on. He even beats both Vader and the Emperor though unable to kill them. He leaves quite the legacy.

*number seven*

Leon: Okay, you know what, For this list, I'm amending the rule of only games we've played, As long as we've at least seen a walkthrough, it can count! So now I can use-

Number 7, Ryu Hayabusa from Ninja Gaiden.

Eduard: Oh sweet! Ninja!

Regulus:  Awesome.  I was wondering when he would show up.

Leon: Ryu Hayabusa is a highly trained ninja who fights vicious Falcons, Other ninja, Demons, and other evil warriors. Many know bout his skills, no need to talk about it, right?

Regulus:  Right.  He's always awesome.

*Number 6*

Regulus:  So who's next in line to have their skills examined.

Leon: I can't believe i have to use this guy.

Scorpion, from Mortal Kombat.

Eduard: MORTAL KOMBAT! DA NA NA NA! Ahem.. sorry i can't help but remember the awesome theme.

Regulus:  From one ninja to another.  This guy was killed and sent to the netherrealm by the original Sub-Zero.

Leon: Or so he thought, Scorpoin and his clan, the Shirai Ryu were slain by the Sorcerer Quan Chi, and Scorpion was revived to serve him. Now for his skill, this ninja rely more on his fists in battle, but he is rather skilled with his sword, the Mugai Ryu.

Regulus:  My brother and I would play for a couple minutes with him as Scorpion and me as Sub-Zero.

Eduard: Get over here! *cough*

Leon: ...should we skip to 5?

Regulus: Yep.

Eduard: Sure

*Number 5*

Dante from Devil May Cry

Regulus:  Here's someone that's a personal favorite of mine.

Eduard: For your sake I hope it's the old Dante and not the "fudge you" Dante we have now. If it is I completely agree.

Leon: ...I forgot about Dante...

Eduard: Well allow me. Dante is the son of a demon and an angel. He runs an agency called 'Devil May Cry' where he took on jobs to kill demons. His laidback witty attitude is his main schtick where he condescends all of his enemies and make really funny pieces of dialouge.

Leon: What about Sword Skill?

Regulus:  Oh trust me it's there.  Wielding the Rebellion along with his twin pistols,  Dante could clear a room full of Demons without breaking a sweat while looking good as well.

Leon: Nice

*Number four*

Leon: FINALLY I CAN SHOW YOU THE ONES I KNOW! okay, the fun can begin right here! And to start us off-

Number 4: Zero from Mega Man X

Regulus:  Awesome.  This guy is the bomb.

Leon: Allow me to explain, Zero was the final and greatest creation of the Classic Mega Man's villain, Dr. Wily, but due to reprogramming and loss of a virus that controlled him, Zero became one of the Maverick Hunters best operatives.

Regulus:  Yeah.  He became great friends with X and would fight against Sigma to keep the peace.

Eduard: Sounds pretty damn cool. I do like his design.

Leon: Zero wields the Z-Saber one of the Lightsaber knock-offs i mentioned, but he does know how to use it, slashing , spinning attacks, Shockwaves, and much more when he gets his own game, the Zero series.

Regulus:  And his sword skill is something of a legend in the Zero series.

Leon: overall, Zero's a great character and a skilled sword wielder, who needs a hair cut.

*Number 3*

Leon: Dilemma A, picking a sword wielder from the Final Fantasy Series, Nominees, First there's Cloud, From FF7, and his big buster sword.

Eduard: And we mean BIG buster sword. Thing must weigh upwards of 200 pounds.

Regulus: What about Squall from FF8 and his gunblade?

Leon: true, OH, and Cecil from FF4.

Regulus:  There's Tidus from FF10 and Lightning from FF13 as well.

Eduard: And Bartz from FFV. Technically he could do anything but he originally started off as a swordsman.

Leon:  Know what... Why choose?

Cloud, Squall, Tidus, Cecil, Lightning, and Bartz from the Final Fantasy Series.

Leon: Starting one by one, in FF4, Cecil was a Dark Knight serving a corrupt kingdom, but when he reaches forgiveness, he becomes the holy Paladin, and fought to save his dark brother, golbez. His Sword, the Luminous Sword, is the bane of Darkness itself.

Eduard: And then we have Bartz who traveled the world with his father and his Chocobo Boko. He was pretty much a comic relief character but he had great moments and he's has the best stats as a maxed out Freelancer and was able to wield the Brave Blade which was a sword granted for never running away from a fight.

Leon: Cloud was a warrior that was exposed to mako energy and given his dead friend, Zack's first class soldier trainer, and gained much pwer. His Buster Sword is one of the most iconic weapon in FF lore, but he's best blade is Ultima Weapon, which is most powerful the more full cloud's health bar is.

Regulus:  After that, we have Squall from FF8.  Squall was a member of SeeD. Lone Lion, quiet, and a bit cold, he wields the gunblade, a power sword with a gun for the hilt.

Leon: Next is Tidus, a warrior from a dreamed up city, Zanarkand, brought to Spira by sin, he begins revealing truths about the Religional, Yavon, the monster, Sin, and ushers the end of the spira death cycle. His Sword, Brotherhood was given to him by Wakka.

Eduard: And then we have Lightning. She was a secruity guard in the Psicom army who patrolled her hometown of Bodum while supporting her sister Serah. Eventually when a Pulse Fal'cie, which is bascaily an evil godlike being, was discovered and made Serah a L'cie, Bascaily a servant of the Fal'cie. The entire town of Bodum were to be purged and everyone in it sentenced to death. Serah was stuck inside the Fal'cie's chamber and Lightning had to go save her. She starts off as an ice queen but quickly warms up when she plays as a mother figure to Hope, A kid she met during the purge. She has great athelitc and strength powers and had a gunblade just like Squall. Though it made a bit more sense on how it worked compared to his.

Leon: Each of these warriors are quite skilled in their own ways and are unique in personality.

*number 2*

Leon: Dilemma B, choosing a sword wielder from Soul Calbur, if you've seen my top ten SC3 characters you'd know that I LOVE Yun-Seong, but he's not number two, there's a tie between my favorite sword wielder and the Best sword wielder

Regulus:  And all I'm coming up with are Seigfried and the Nightmare.

Leon: neither of them, and despite both WiiDude and GreenScorpion liking him, I'm not picking Yoshimitsu.

Eduard: Ivy?

Leon: Too Femme Fatale, and the blade is more a whip.

Eduard: So then who is it?

Regulus:  Yeah.  Who is it?

Leon: It's... another Tie.

Number 2: Sophitia and Cassandra from Soul Calibur.

Leon: Sophitia and Cassandra are sisters from Greece. Both wielding swords and shields and are both fast and agile, and deadly with their attacks. But there's more too it then that.

Regulus:  There is dude.  What is it?

Leon: Yep, Backstory.

Eduard: Story? In a fighting game?

Leon: yep, As I explained before, Sophitia's daughter, Pyrrha, at a young age, was infected with the dark energies of Soul Edge, making her a prime target for Soul Edge's servant, Tira, and so to protect Pyrrha and Patroklos, Sophitia takes up her sword to destroy Soul Edge once and for all. Cassandra on the other hand, believes that Sophitia's unable to handle the quest and runs off to destroy Soul edge to protect Sophitia.

Eduard: okay, Lemme get my head around this. Sophitia wants to destroy Soul Edge to save her children, while Cassandra wants to destroy Soul Edge to save Sophitia?

Leon: Pretty Much.

Regulus:  That makes sense, I guess.  *Is scratching his head trying to make sense of it.*

Eduard: Yea I think I got it then.

Leon: Okay, the number one Wielder is near guys.

Regulus:  Huzzah.  Before we get there, let's recap the previous wielders.

Leon: you mean, Let's Recap?

Eduard: Yea of course. Shall we?

Regulus:  Alright.  Number 10- Kirby's Meta-Knight.

Eduard: Number 9- Fire Emblem's Lyn.

Leon: Number 8- Star Wars' Starkiller.

Regulus:  Number 7- Ryu Hyabusa from Ninja Gaiden.

Eduard: Number 6- Scorpion from Mortal Kombat.

Leon: Number 5- Dante from Devil May Cry.

Eduard: Number 4- Zero from Mega Man X.

Regulus: Number 3-Cecil, Bartz, Cloud, Squall, Tidus and Lightning from Final Fantasy.

Leon: and Number 2- Sophitia and Cassandra from Soul Calibur.

*Number one*

Leon: it was no question, even before I made this a collab, This character got me into Sword Wielders in the first place, a Warrior that never backs down, never runs, and never fails. A warrior that grown up for gamers over the years and battles countless evil warriors. A true hero.

Eduard: Mario?

Regulus: Knuckles?

Leon: ...neither of them is a full time sword wielder... and Knuckles is an idiot.

Knuckles: SHUT UP!

Leon: No, that them. The Number one sword wielder in video games, is...

Link from Legend of Zelda.

Regulus:  I was thinking of him.

Eduard: That was my next guess. I think.

Leon: Link is THE BEST. No questions asked. Link is the Hero of Hyrule, wield Enchanted swords to fight against Evil Forces like Ganondork-

*record scratch*

Regulus:  Ganondork.  Don't you mean Ganondorf.

Eduard: I think that was the joke.

Leon: it was... Anyway, Link normaly wields the Master Sword, the blade of evil's bane, able to kill ANY evil creature, and he's got skills/

Regulus:  He sure does.  I think Wind Waker is the best.  I am a big fan of his sea journey on the gamecube.

Eduard: Especially in Majoras Mask. He's so versatile with all the masks combined with his regular arsenal.

Leon: And he gained several new moves in Twilight Princess and Skyward Sword, like the mortal draw, and the Skyward Strike.

Regulus:  Couldn't he become a wolf in Twilight Princess as well.

Leon: Focusing on Sword Wielding here.

Regulus:  Sorry Leon.  I got a little sidetracked.

Leon: Link has taken down many monsters, Gohma, Dodongo, Jalhalla, Molgera, Goht, Odolwa, Ghirahim, Moldach, Diababa, Zant, Vaati, Bellum, The Demon Train, and even the King of Evil, Ganondork.

Regulus:  *Is chuckling a little.*  Ganondork, now I get it.

Eduard: Yea.

Leon: Overall, Link is a true Hyrule Hero, Beating overwhelming odds, and saving the kingdom countless times. I mean, If we each had a $100 For everytime Link saves the day...

Regulus:  We'd be rolling in the money right now, throwing...

Eduard: Parties all night!

Leon: well, I'm Wolf-Prince-Leon.

Regulus:  And Regulus58.

Eduard: And Xiezhai31

Leon: and Link is the Best Sword Wielder in Video Games. They say the Sword is a symbol of Strength, Courage, Hope, and Honor. Link upholds these values with pride and gives hero's a good name.
This was a HARD one.

Thanks for your help ~Xiezhai31 and =regulus58

Hey, can I tell you a character that was based on history?
